LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says the only way to fix President Barack Obama's health care law is to repeal it, and he pointed to an alternative touted by other Republicans as well.
McConnell said Tuesday the botched rollout of the health care website is only the start of the problems with the overhaul.
The senator said Congress needs to start over. He outlined an alternative that includes letting consumers shop for insurance across state lines, promoting state high-risk pools to provide coverage for people with pre-existing medical conditions and letting small businesses band together to negotiate for insurance coverage. Those ideas have been floated by other Republicans.
A spokeswoman for Democratic Senate candidate Alison Lundergan Grimes says McConnell failed to offer any new ideas.
Grimes said parts of the law need to be fixed.
