LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth will run for a third term representing Kentucky's 3rd Congressional District.
The Democratic congressman from Louisville plans to file his paperwork at the Secretary of State's office in Frankfort on Monday.
He is the only Democrat to announce a run for the race, but The Courier Journal reported that several Republicans are going after the nomination to unseat him.
Yarmuth won the seat in 2006 by upsetting five-term incumbent Anne Northup amid deep Republican losses. He defeated her again in the 2008 general election.
