FRANKFORT, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Which parts of Kentucky's state budget are about to get slashed?
Only Governor Steve Beshear knows for sure as he prepares to deliver his budget address in Frankfort Tuesday night, Jan. 21.
The governor has said he plans to propose an increase in education funding, even if he has to make harmful cuts in other areas.
“In balancing our budgets during the recession, we were sometimes forced to cut far too deeply, decimating many programs and services that Kentuckians desperately need,” Beshear said.
Beshear has also said that his budget request would not assume any new revenues from possible casino gambling or tax reform.
WHAS11 Political Editor Joe Arnold is covering the speech and will have a report on 11 at 11.
