FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- A Democratic state representative from Midway has resigned to accept the top job at the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority.
Carl Rollins, chairman of the House Education Committee, submitted his letter of resignation to Gov. Steve Beshear on Wednesday.
Legislative Research Commission Executive Director Bobby Sherman had notified lawmakers of Rollins resignation in an email. Sherman said the resignation would be effective at the close of business Wednesday.
Rollins said in his letter of resignation that the new job will require his full attention.
In addition to the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority, Rollins also will oversee the Kentucky Higher Education Loan Corp.
