FRANKFORT, Ky. (WHAS11) – On Wednesday, Sept. 18, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul pushed his senate colleagues to overhaul federal sentencing guidelines.
He says they disproportionately target minorities and young black males.
“The majority of illegal drug users and dealers nationwide are white, but three-fourths of all people in prison for drug offenses are African American or Latino,” Paul said.
On Tuesday, Sept. 17, we told you about Reverend Kevin Cosby of Louisville's St. Stephen Baptist Church. He posted on his twitter page: “No one in this country is creating a better message to uplift for the African-American community than Rand Paul."
Rand is considering a run for president in 2016.
