Rand Paul not welcome at Pulaski County event

******

No offense to my friends in Spencer County, but I was wondering why Rand Paul decided to speak at the Spencer County Lincoln Day dinner on Friday night, as opposed to the Pulaski County Lincoln Day dinner that same night.  Pulaski County has six times as many registered Republicans as Spencer County (28,137 in Pulaski vs. 4,427 in Spencer).

As it turns out, Paul was not invited to speak by the Pulaski County GOP after a speech at the Pulaski GOP picnic last fall, at which Paul railed against incumbent Congressmen, calling them "people (who) trade their votes to get pork barrel projects for their district."

U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers (R-KY) was on the dais during the nine minute speech, and was reportedly upset by Paul's insinuations.  Rogers has been in Congress since 1981 and has been villified over the years for pork barrel spending in his own district.  The Lexington Herald-Leader has called him the "Prince of Pork," and a number of national publications have similarly criticized him.

In the October speech, Paul said long time Congressmen "need to come back to our state and live like we do."

Paul campaign manager David Adams confirms the snub by the Pulaski County GOP, and a connection to the speech last fall.  Adams appeared at the Pulaski County dinner, while Paul -- trailed by CNN cameras -- spoke in Spencer County.

So Paul gets snubbed for not pandering to the porkers? That seems like a good thing.

On behalf of those of us representing Bill Johnson who were made to feel at home and very welcome, many thanks to the Pulaski County GOP for their hospitality.

Snubbed for not cowtowing to pork-barrel politics? The nerve of this Rand Paul! Some go to D.C. to be a career legislator, and some just want to repair the apple-cart and go back home.

This is exactly why I'm voting for Rand. Rogers has wasted enough of our tax dollars over the years. We finally have someone who is willing to stand up to the politicians who are bankrupting our country!

This is why Rand Paul is the true champion of the teaparty movement and the REAL fiscal conservative candidate in this race. There is iron in his words and his words are true. The establishment is going to throw everything at him and the kitchen sink in an attempt to stop him. I wouldn't even be surprised if the establishment is going to try and run a third candidate to try and smear Rand while leaving Grayson alone in an attempt to bring down Rand. Good luck with that. I see it's already happening, but I believe the people of Kentucky will see right through that strategy and in the end it will most definiately back fire! Go get em Rand please restore our constitution!!

This comment stream is "rich"!!!... "Rand restore our constitution".."fiscal conservative"...ahem, Steve Forbes and the big politcal money baggers at work!! Bill Johnson is the only "TRUE GRASSROOTS CANDIDATE" in this race, would it behoove any of you to actually take a look and see what a true conservative looks like instead of being played as pawns by Campaign 4 Liberty and their mantra!

It's important to have a true Tea Party candidate who also has the respect of the Republican leaders here in Kentucky. While I have a problem with spending in Washington, I am a pro-life voter who appreciates Hal Rogers' stand for life. I attended a Tea Party event because I am concerned about the Obama Administration's attempt to deny health care workers freedom of conscience on abortion. Rogers is a staunch advocate for life and deserves our respect for that. Bill Johnson is a socially and fiscally conservative candidate who is a Tea Party candidate AND has earned the respect of our Republican leaders in Kentucky. He is the key to merging the movement with the party. I've spoken with him on the phone many times and he has the leadership and integrity to serve with honor. DUTY - HONOR - COUNTRY! I'm voting Johnson for Senate. Lisa Graas, Clarkson, Ky http://tinyurl.com/yfs3jtq

Get a load of Big Daddy Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty threats against Bill Johnson's Special Forces Bloggers, a groub of (mostly) disabled, retired, older men and women who support their candidate and engage the opposition. Manners, Rand. That's all it takes. http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=230378

@tunkashila I looked at that link and failed to see the threats. Could you highlight them for me? Seems to me it is a couple of people who are trying to defend their candidate against false truths and rhetoric.

tunkashila said on February 10, 2010 at 4:01 PM

This was yours Little Davey: I would wait until his campaign actually shows some ability. If he polls over 10% in the next poll, maybe it is justified. Just be patient and wait to see what happens. No one mentioned physical threats, Little Davey. What I see is an organized effort to interfere with or compromise the Internet based supports of Bill Johnson by a world-wide Liberty Forest group of non-Kentuckian bloggers. That tells me that you folks will go to any measure necessary to sabotage our well intentioned efforts with nefarious and mean-spirited efforts of your own. Stay the H_ll out of our politics!

THis was one from LordIndra which you responded to as posted above. You full well know these were directed at people and not politics. To all Paul supporters: Jill and the Bohnson special forces have pushed me to the point where I am willing to spend an unlimited amount of hours with a counter-campaign, like they have done with Rand. Thats what they have done, bottom line and I have just ignored up until this point. In the beginning of the campaign, I even had ALOT of sympathy for the man. Now I dont. I want blood and I am willing to crush these disengenuise jerks any way I can. Seriously, lets do it. The moderators left this up despite LordIndra's plea to take it done. There are others but you can read them for yourself. You blog there.

Where did you go LilDave? You Paulers just love to hit & run. I hope Joe Arnold is beginning to see the pattern. This is reflective of Rand Paul's fracturing base.
