A rally in downtown Louisville is asking people to support an audit of the Federal Reserve.

Demonstrators marched with signs at 5th and Main Sunday collecting signatures to send to Kentucky Senators Mitch McConnell and Jim Bunning.

Supporters say it's Congress's constitutional duty to monitor U.S. money and that the public should not leave control in the hands of a private bank.

“We have unelected private banks dealing with our money. It's not OK to have independence.  Independence from the public is not constitutional, and it's not "We the people,” said Sheri Quinn, Demonstrator.

Opponents to the federal audit bill argue that Congress should not have any influence on monetary policy.
