LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- She is not even in the race but Wednesday conservatives showed Ashley Judd if she takes field, they're prepared to give her a run for her money.
The online ad was released Wednesday by Karl Rove's conservative Super Pac "Cross Roads America." It paints Kentucky’s notable native as a carpetbagger who works in Hollywood and lives in Tennessee.
The most Judd had said is she is considering facing off against Mitch McConnell in 2014. Two recent polls, one by liberals and one by McConnell’s team show her within four points of the five term senator. However McConnell's polling also revealed that when Kentucky voters learn the actress' political positions, their support may fall off.
WHAS11 showed the ad to people around downtown Louisville to see if it hit the mark. No one we talked to was shocked to learn Judd is liberal, however her Tennessee residency raised some eyebrows.
University of Louisville political science professor Dewey Clayton believes that worries Republicans.
“The fact that they're ads running against someone who hasn't even announced clearly shows that there's concern on the senators part more so than I've seen at this point in an election in quite some time," Clayton said.
Judd’s publicist released this statement in response to the ad: "Ashley thanks Senator McConnell, Karl Rove, and their negative allies for all the attention as she considers her future political plans, although a decision hasn't been made yet”.
