McConnell makes 7-stop fly around across Ky. ahead of primary

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Candidats for more than 1,000 primary races across the Commonwealth have one last day to get their message out before voters head to the poles Tuesday.

U.S. Senator Mitch Mcconnell (R-Ky) was at Bowman Field Monday morning to kick of a seven-stop fly around across Kentucky.

Though McConnell is challanged in the primary by fellow Republican Matt Bevin, his comments focused on the fall election agains Alison Lundergan Grimes and the Republican efforst to gain control of the Senate.

"The spending, the borrowing, need to be put in the rear view mirror.....the only thing we can do this year, my friends, is to change the Senate to begin to change America." McConnell said.

After stops in Louisville and Northern Kentucky, McConnell will speak at the Lexington airport.

The senator did not take any questions from reporters.
