INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Gov. Mike Pence is recommending Marsha Coats to complete Becky Skillman's term as Indiana's Republican national committeewoman.
Pence recommended the wife of Sen. Dan Coats on Wednesday. The Indiana Republican State Executive Committee is expected to confirm her selection Monday. The term expires in 2016.
Skillman is leaving the post to focus on her work as a regional economic development leader.
Marcia Coats has taught in public and private schools and worked as a family counselor in private practice and in support of the U.S. Senate chaplain. An advocate of volunteer and service organizations, she and her husband formed The Foundation for American Renewal to support faith-based initiatives. She also is a founding member of Project Nehemiah, a Christian nonprofit that assists children whose parents were the victims of terrorists.
