LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Representative John Yarmuth is sounding off about Senator Mitch McConnell's new campaign ad and why he thinks the senator is panicking about a rumored Ashley Judd run against him.
"Everything from having his surrogates talk about her nude scenes, to talking about her residency to trying to discredit her early on. They know they are in trouble against Ashley Judd," Yarmuth said.
Senator McConnell began running the ad Thursday. It's directed to women voters and features his wife -- former Labor Secretary Elaine Chao responding to attacks from Progress Kentucky, a super PAC aimed at defeating McConnell, it posted tweets in February that highlighted Chao's Chinese ancestry.
Congressman Yarmuth said the ad shows McConnell is concerned about a possible match up against Judd and polls already show him in trouble.
"They know that they are in trouble against Ashley Judd. They ran a poll with their own people and basically sampled their base and he didn't get 50 percent against Ashley Judd. So he knows he's in trouble," Yarmuth said.
Ashley Judd has said she plans to decide whether to run for senate by May 2013.
