LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- On Wednesday, the Jefferson County Attorney Mike O'Connell called for a complete overhaul of confidentiality in juvenile court proceedings.
It comes after a juvenile sexual assault case in Louisville, where the victim tweeted her attackers' names and then faced contempt of court charges for violating confidentiality.
Now O’Connell says he's working to develop statewide legislation to open juvenile court proceedings.
He says his office currently prosecutes about 2,500 juveniles a year for violent crimes.
He thinks opening the records, would help increase accountability.
