FRANKFORT, Ky. (WHAS11) -- A controversial bill introduced late in the Kentucky General Assembly won't move forward.

The House Labor and Industry Committee voted against the Kentucky Right to Work Act, which was sponsored by House Minority Leader Jeff Hoover.

The bill would have prohibited mandatory membership in a labor organization as a condition of employment.

The committee's chairman was against the bill, saying it would have a negative impact on the average wage of middle class Kentuckians.
