Congressman Guthrie Visits Troops in Iraq

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02) returned today, Tuesday December 15, 2009, from a 3-day trip to Iraq and Kuwait..

During his visit, Congressman Guthrie met with generals and troops on the ground, including Army Lt. Gen. Michael Barbero, commander in charge of training Iraqi security forces, and Army Lt. Gen. Charles Jaboby, Jr., commander of multinational forces in Iraq, to get an understanding of the operational side of withdrawing our troops from Iraq.
“We are lucky to have such amazing soldiers fighting for our country. Morale was high, and everyone I met was in high spirits,” Congressman Guthrie said. “We need continue to pray for them as they work to complete their mission.”
Congressman Guthrie also met with officials from the State Department and U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Christopher Hill.
