LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- A Kentucky lawmaker who switched party affiliation after winning in 2010 has lost his bid for another term.
State Rep. Wade Hurt, a former Republican, lost the Democratic nomination to Jeff Donohue in Louisville's 37th House District in Tuesday's primary.
Donohue was disqualified from the 2010 election after a judge found problems with Donohue's candidate filing.
Hurt won without opposition in the 2010 election as a Republican, then switched affiliation to the Democrats. He said at the time that the district would be better represented by a Democrat.
Hurt is the only incumbent state lawmaker so far to lose in Tuesday's election.
