LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- The attorney for Metro Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin wants the ethics complaint against her dismissed.
"My client absolutely is not guilty of any unethical behavior, and absolutely not guilty of any criminal behavior and we are confident, extremely confident that in the end that that would be cleared to the public," said Aubrey Williams, Barbara Shanklin's attorney.
Shanklin is accused of ethics violations and is also the subject of a criminal investigation by police.
Her attorney asked the commission Thursday to dismiss the complaint because he says it was based on media reports as evidence of Shanklin's alleged corruption and mismanaging of money -- instead of facts.
The ethics commission didn't dismiss the complaint, but gave Shanklin 10 extra days to file a response.
