Kentucky's governor says he is disappointed with the special election results to fill an open state Senate seat.

Tuesday night, republican State Representative, Jimmy Higdon, defeated the democrat Jodie Haydon in what will be the most expensive legislative race in Kentucky’s history.

Higdon's win will keep republicans in control of the state Senate and may stop the governor's plan to expand gambling at race tracks.

Higdon will replace Dan Kelly who resigned after being appointed to a judgeship by Governor Beshear.
