FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) -- Gov. Steve Beshear's office says Kentucky's new online health exchange enrolled about 1,000 people each day for health coverage during its first month.

The governor's office said 32,485 Kentuckians had signed up for coverage as of Friday morning. About 40 percent of enrollees are under age 35.

Beshear says people are still flocking to the state exchange for coverage that will begin Jan. 1.

Kentucky's rollout has drawn praise from President Barack Obama, who's dealing with fallout from the troubled introduction of the federal health benefit exchange that's a key part of his health care overhaul.

In Kentucky, the governor's office says people have signed up for health coverage in every county.

It says the highest enrollment numbers are in Jefferson and Fayette counties -- the state's most populous counties.
