The Washington, D.C. snowpocalypse claimed the reelection filing of Congressman Baron Hill (D-IN), who cancelled his trip home to file the paperwork and will now simply drop the paperwork in the mail.

In a release, Hill's campaign also volunteers that he will be leaving  "on a military trip overseas to visit soldiers, including Hoosier troops, and learn more about our ongoing operations regarding the War on Terror.  Details of the trip cannot be released right now per the military’s request."

But, it will be no surprise when Hill shows up in either Afghanistan or Iraq.

 Hill to File for Reelection

Will have to file by mail due to weather issues and military trip next week

Seymour, Indiana – Congressman Baron Hill will officially file for reelection by mail with the Indiana Secretary of State’s Office before the February 19th deadline for federal candidates.  Hill is not able to file in person today, as planned, due to inclement weather.  He also will not be able to return to Indiana later this week as he is scheduled to leave on a military trip overseas to visit soldiers, including Hoosier troops, and learn more about our ongoing operations regarding the War on Terror.  Details of the trip cannot be released right now per the military’s request.

“I’m sorry that I won’t be able to file for reelection in person this year,” Hill said.  “This is quite a break from tradition, particularly how I usually visit all 20 counties in the Ninth District after filing at the Statehouse.  I cannot get back to Indiana today because of the weather.  And, will not be able to return during the next several days as I will be participating in a military trip to visit our troops and learn more about our ongoing operations and reconstruction efforts pertaining to the War on Terror.  I believe meeting with our soldiers on the front lines, particularly Hoosier troops, is an important aspect of my job responsibilities.  I hope folks back home understand my absence and I look forward to getting back to Southern Indiana after my trip concludes.”
