FRANKFORT, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway will be arguing a case before the state supreme court this week.

This is the first case that he's argued since taking office in 2008.

Conway will be arguing a case over the powers of his office.

Justices will consider under what circumstances the attorney general's office can take part in investigations across the Commonwealth.

The case stems from two drug trafficking cases in eastern Kentucky in which appeals court panels have ruled that the AG has jurisdiction only when requested by local officials or the governor.

Conway argues that his office could be stripped of its power to fight different crimes if the rulings stand.
