FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Libertarian Ed Martin has filed candidacy papers to run against U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth in Louisville's Third Congressional District.
Martin, a Louisville businessman, submitted the paperwork on Wednesday at the state Capitol. He will also face Republican nominee Toddy Lally in the race.
Yarmuth ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. Lally, an Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran, won in a contested GOP primary.
Martin said he entered the race because "the Democrats and Republicans are simply not addressing the issues." Martin has previously been registered as both a Democrat and a Republican. He said he registered Libertarian last year.
