FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — U.S. Senate candidate Jack Conway is running a TV ad linking two Republicans with Sen. Jim Bunning's actions that briefly jeopardized jobless benefits.
The Democrat's 30-second ad started airing Wednesday on stations in Lexington and Louisville.
Conway takes aim at Bunning for single-handedly blocking a stopgap measure that would extend help for the nation's jobless. Bunning, a Kentucky Republican, relented Tuesday.
Conway says in the ad that Republican Senate candidates Rand Paul and Trey Grayson "shamefully" cheered on Bunning.
Paul campaign manager David Adams said Paul supports Bunning's efforts to promote fiscal responsibility. Grayson campaign manager Nate Hodson said Democrats want to let the next generation worry about the deficit.
