DALLAS (AP) — Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul are bashing what they call the president's lack of leadership in response to the violent militant group attacking cities in Iraq.

Both are among four top Republicans considering 2016 White House bids addressing a conservative summit in Dallas.

Tea party-backed Paul said Friday — quote — "If the president has no strategy, maybe it's time for a new president."

Earlier, Perry accused the Obama administration of "dithering and debating" and "minimizing the threat" posed by the Islamic State group and by the apparent invasion of Russian troops in Ukraine.

On Thursday, President Barack Obama said, "We don't have a strategy yet." That came before a meeting of his national security advisers to discuss Pentagon options for confronting the Islamic State group.
