LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Alison Lundergan Grimes is taking aim at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on jobs and pay-equity issues in a speech to a Democratic gathering.
The Democratic challenger in Kentucky's hard-hitting Senate race says McConnell has seen his personal net worth mushroom while voting repeatedly against a higher minimum wage that would help struggling families.
Grimes also criticizes McConnell for opposing measures that would ensure women are paid the same salaries as men for equal work.
The comments were in excerpts of Grimes' speech released by her campaign ahead of a Democratic fundraiser Thursday night in Louisville.
Grimes is focusing on the jobs issue in trying to draw a contrast with the five-term Republican senator.
McConnell touts his sponsorship of a bill that would lower federal tax rates for areas with high unemployment.
