WASHINGTON (AP) — The House Republican campaign committee says it raised almost $10 million in March and has $31 million in the bank to defend the GOP's majority.
The National Republican Congressional Committee reports it's raised $21 million over the past three months.
That's the group's best January-through-March showing since 2003.
Still, the committee faces a serious challenge from House Democrats, who have amassed a $40 million fund.
Sunday is the filing deadline for groups that disclose their finances every month.
Heading into that deadline, Democrats appear to be raising more than Republicans.
Among outside groups, Democrats enjoy a better than 2-to-1 edge.
Yet at party-run committees, just $22 million separates Democrats from Republicans — out of the combined $503 million the campaign committees have raised.
