BOSTON (AP) — Former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown has started looking for campaign staff and courting the political elite in New Hampshire.
Republicans consider the moves to be Brown's first steps toward launching a Senate campaign against Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen.
The stakes are high as the GOP seeks to capture the Senate majority this fall.
Brown is a longtime Massachusetts resident. But he recently relocated to his New Hampshire vacation home. He's begun calling top New Hampshire Republicans to gauge their support. And his camp has quietly started offering paid positions to Republican operatives for a prospective Senate campaign.
But some are skeptical about his intentions. Brown indicated he was running in last year's Massachusetts special election, only to change his mind.
