FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler has received a key endorsement in his bid for re-election in Kentucky's 6th District.
The Lexington Democrat has scheduled a news conference for Wednesday to release the endorsement by the Kentucky State Fraternal Order of Police.
The event is set for 12:15 p.m. EDT at the Clarion Hotel in Lexington.
Chandler faces a challenge from Republican Andy Barr, a Lexington lawyer, in what is expected to be Kentucky's most competitive general election congressional race.
Barr sought a rematch with Chandler this year after losing a squeaker to him two years ago.
