FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Republican Andy Barr is allowing his wife to make his case to voters in his first TV ad of the fall election season.
Barr is challenging Democratic U.S. Rep. Ben Chandler for the 6th District congressional seat in the Nov. 6 election.
Campaign spokesman David Host said Barr is spending $82,000 to run the spot on Lexington TV, and another $20,000 to put it on the radio and Internet.
In the 30-second ad, Carol Barr introduces her husband to central Kentucky voters, describing him as a family man and father who wants a better future for all children.
The Chandler campaign hasn't yet run ads, but the independent political group Patriot Majority USA has been airing spots supporting him.
Barr challenged Chandler two years ago but lost by 647 votes.
