FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Former Arizona Sheriff Richard Mack has endorsed Kentucky tea party gubernatorial candidate Phil Moffett in the state's upcoming Republican primary.
Mack, a regular speaker at tea party events nationwide, said in a statement released by the Moffett Campaign on Monday that he considers it an honor to support Moffett. Mack said Moffett understands state's rights and principles of freedom.
Moffett faces state Sen. President David Williams and Jefferson County Clerk Bobbie Holsclaw in the May 17 Republican primary.
Mack was in Kentucky last week making appearances at a series of tea party events.
Moffett has made his tea party affiliation a key part of his campaign, but he's still lacking the campaign cash needed to run a television advertising campaign leading up to the primary election.
