(WHAS11) -- This weekend in southwest Washington state a kayaker called 911 after her friend's boat capsized.
Another 911 dispatcher saw the call come in and realized where the boat was.
Knowing it would take a patrol boat way too long to get to the scene to help the helpful dispatcher called her mother, a retired EMT, and told her to check it out.
And mom did more than that! She grabbed her own kayak, pulled the boater out of the frigid water and saved the day.
And the mother who made the rescue had a broken arm at the time! It certainly didn't stop her from doing a great deed.
