LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Just hours after the Newtown, Connecticut shooting, dozens gathered outside the White House to hold a vigil for the victims.

Many who attended this somber event are pushing for stronger gun control laws.

Thousands signed a petition on the White House “We Are The People” website calling for President Obama to immediately address the issue of gun control.

It quickly reached the 25,000 electronic signatures required for a response from the White House.
