(WHAS11) – A Texas Tech cheerleader has created controversy and drawn criticism from across the nation.

Kendall Jones, 19, uses her facebook page to display pictures of her and the obscure, often endangered, animals she has killed. Most of these pictures show Jones smiling next to the dead animal.

Jones has received many negative comments from other facebook users and has certainly caught the eye of animal rights activists. An online petition asking facebook to remove the page of Kendall Jones that they claim, “promotes animal cruelty” has more than 67,000 signatures.

Unconfirmed reports say that the attention may result in the Texas Tech cheerleader hosting her own show on the Sportsman Channel.

Jones has taken to facebook to defend herself, saying, “This is a conservation effort to assure that they never do become extinct.”
