CLEVELAND (AP) -- A father who is dying from cancer was brought to his daughter's wedding by ambulance and gave her away from a hospital gurney.
The PIain Dealer of Cleveland reports that people at the church had red eyes from tears and reddened hands from clapping after 56-year-old Scott Nagy participated in daughter Sarah's wedding Saturday. A volunteer team of medical professionals helped him keep his promise to his daughter that he would escort her down the aisle.
He was diagnosed last year with urethral cancer and has battled it with chemotherapy. But he has been hospitalized since August at University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center and doctors had been uncertain he would be able to leave for the wedding.
But with monitor cords and a tracheal tube attached, he made it.
