(WHAS 11)--NSA whistle blower Edward Snowden has withdrawn his request for asylum in Russia even though he's reportedly still living in a transit area of the Moscow Airport.

Yesterday Russia’s president said Snowden would have to stop leaking US information before they would grant his request.

Snowden has also been denied asylum in India.

He’s reportedly applied in some 21 countries.

Snowden left the US after being accused of leaking details of 2 US government surveillance programs.
