LOUISVILLE  (WHAS11) –  Climate change continues to be a very hot political topic and a new  documentary about climate change solutions has just been released.

In this week's Project Green, Chief Meteorologist Monty Webb interviews the filmmaker of the documentary, Louisville native Peter Byck.

Byck says he’s trying to take to politics out of climate change.

“Our film is called “Carbon Nation” and it's kind of a fun title.  We don't take ourselves too seriously,” said Byck.  “We have a lot of fun in the film, and people are laughing a lot watching the film and that was a goal of ours.”

Peter wanted to make the documentary a fun journey for his audience no matter what side of the climate debate they're on.

“You don't even need to believe in climate change to have cheap energy, or to have national security, or energy security or just good business practice,” he said.

In the film Peter introduces us to a Texas farmer who had to think green in order to survive.

Peter says what they found out was all the solutions to solve climate change also solves a lot of other issues.  And in the movie, everyone has a voice.

“Do I think man is causing global warming?  I think we add to it,” he said. “Do I think we cause it NO, but that doesn't matter.  I want clean water and clean air and that is so simple.”

Those simple solutions are explored in Byck's movie "Carbon Nation" which premieres in Louisville on Thursday night at the Louisville Science Center.

Screenings are on the IMAX at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
