(WHAS11) -- Tomatoes, shoes and water bottles were thrown at US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's motorcade Sunday while she was in Egypt.
Protesters were quite vocal as Clinton left the newly reopened US Consulate in Alexandria. Many shouted "Monica" at the former First Lady as she left the building.
Clinton said she was in the city to answer critics who believe Washington has taken sides in Egyptian politics.
The ceremony was supposed to take place outside but had to be moved indoors because of the protesters.
