LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS) -- A high tech tool that's a staple for the military is becoming popular in the agricultural industry.
Researchers in Texas are now using drones. The new unmanned aircraft is equipped with an infrared lense and can take both still shots and video. Researchers can use the drones to spot problem spots in crop fields.
Currently, the Federal Aviation Administration authorizes the use of model aircraft for hobby or recreational uses but does not allow flights for commercial operations.
