WRIGHTSVILLE, Ga. -- A Dollar General store clerk in Georgia is facing charges after police said she beat a customer's son with a belt.

Eight-year-old Logan Ivey said when he was in the store and the clerk began calling him names.

"So I walked down this aisle and I seen the lady. She started calling me a demon, so I said 'I’ll show you bad' and I picked up a cookie and I threw it at her. So I tried to hide behind the counter and somehow she found me and started whipping me and I didn't have nowhere to go," he said.

Logan's dad, Jody Ivey, said he wants police to release the store surveillance tapes showing the attack. Dad also said people in their hometown of Wrightsville are suggesting the boy deserved it.

"It wasn't a spanking, it was more or less a beating than a spanking, the way she was hitting him, you know? I don't know how to explain it. It just, I don't even like to think about it," Jody Ivey said.

Police said the clerk hit the boy more than 25 times. The clerk is charged with aggravated assault. Neither the clerk nor store officials would comment.
