(WHAS11) -- There is some good news about everyone's paychecks because it seems employers may be a bit more generous with raises next year.
Workers can expect and average of 2.9 percent in 2013 which would be the biggest increase in over five years.
A consulting firm surveyed 1,500 employers and almost all of them said that they planned on boosting salaries in the next year. The study also found that there will be fewer salary cuts and freezes. In fact, more employers are considering extra perks like cash rewards or bonuses for hitting project goals.
Oil and gas companies are expected to hand out some of the biggest raises.
