GOING PUBLIC: A federal appeals court ruled Friday that the Federal Reserve must identify financial companies that received Fed loans to survive the financial crisis.
KEEPING IT SECRET: The Fed said disclosing the information could hurt the companies and defeat the lending's purpose, which was to help banks and other financial institutions overcome credit stresses and restore financial stability.
PRODDING THE FED: News organizations are seeking names of companies, how much they received and what collateral they pledged. Members of Congress have been pressing, too.
