HOUSTON -- A woman is lucky to be alive after a violent crash involving an 18-wheeler in southeast Houston.
Officers with the Houston Police Department said it happened just before 1 a.m. Wednesday along Dixie Farm Road at the Gulf Freeway.
An 18-wheeler was making a u-turn. The woman apparently didn’t see the trailer blocking the road, and she drove her Nissan Altima under it.
The crash ripped the roof off the vehicle, which was wedged under the big rig.
Somehow the driver only suffered minor injuries. The truck driver suffered a cut to his hand while trying to help the woman.
Police said they found an open bottle of alcohol in the woman’s car, but the cause of the crash was still under investigation.
