METAIRIE, La. (AP) — A suburban New Orleans man wanted in death of his girlfriend found bludgeoned to death in her bathtub has been arrested in Texas and the three children he disappeared with have been found.
Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies say in a news release 43-year-old Pedro Alberto Monterroso-Navas, of Metairie, was arrested in a trailer park in Katy, Texas, late Sunday night. He faces a second-degree murder charge.
Col. John Fortunato, a sheriff's office spokesman, says the three children who were with him at the time of his arrest are safe.
Fortunato says two other children went to a neighbor's apartment around 3:35 a.m. Sunday asking for help. Authorities identified the victim as 24-year-old Heidy Monroy.
Sheriff Newell Normand says deputies found the woman unconscious with head wounds and she died in her apartment.
