GRAND RIVERS, Ky. (AP) — Searchers continue to look for a western Kentucky doctor last seen at near his home and possibly in need of medication.
The Paducah Sun reported (http://bit.ly/1qVGdhT ) that 60-year-old John P. Lyles was last seen Wednesday afternoon and video footage shows him walking away from Marina Village, where he lives.
Police said Lyles left his residence without taking any of the medication needed to treat the serious illness he suffers from.
Search teams were stationed at Canal Overlook on Wednesday.
Livingston County Deputy Director of Emergency Management Kenny Vincent said an email sent from Lyles' account about three hours after he was last seen failed to yield clues to his whereabouts.
"(Lyles) is very much a family man," Vincent said. "So for him to walk away from his family is very out of character."
Vincent said Lyles' optometry practice was located in Calvert City, the missing man has lived in Livingston County for about eight years and took regular walks to Lighthouse Landing around 5 p.m.
Calloway, Lyon, Marshall, McCracken and Trigg counties sent rescue teams to help with the search. Boats from Livingston and Marshall counties searched Lake Barkley, Kentucky Lake and the canal.
"It'll be a whole lot more people than what I could put on the ground, so I'm hoping that's going to be a positive thing for us," he said.
