HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- A 17-year-old man was shot and killed outside an eastern Harris County gas station early Tuesday, deputies said.
Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to Woodforest and Uvalde around 2:30 a.m.
Sheriff's deputies said the teen and his friend were at the intersection when someone inside a dark colored four door sedan drove up and fired at the teenager, killing him. The friend ran for his life as soon as he saw the gun – he was not injured.
The victim died at the scene.
Friends that gathered at the station were visibly upset. They said the teenager was just like anyone else and not in any trouble that they knew of.
"If they did it for no reason -- they had no reason to do that -- then, hey, the man upstairs sits high and looks low," said a friend of the victim. "He can deal with them better than we can."
Sheriff's deputies will be looking at video from surveillance cameras for further clues. They don't know of a motive at this point.
