DALLAS -- A man has pleaded guilty after admitting to having sex with a teen and giving her HIV.
Testimony in the punishment phase is now underway in Matthew Reese's trial. The 31-year-old said he had a relationship with a 15-year-old girl. Prosecutors say he knew he had HIV before starting what he calls a seven-month relationship.
During explicit testimony Tuesday, News 8 learned that Reese wrote letters to the girl while he was in jail. He vowed to escape and meet up with her, and told her that having sex with him would keep him faithful. He also asked her to send him $20.
Prosecutors and the girl's family want consecutive sentences for Reese, which could add up to 95 years in jail.
