FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Louisville attorney Andy Beshear says he has raised more than $220,000 since entering next year's race for attorney general in Kentucky.

The son of Gov. Steve Beshear hopes to win the same job his father held in the early 1980s.

The younger Beshear said Monday he raised $221,962 in the last quarter of 2013, though he didn't announce his candidacy until Nov. 14.

Beshear says his more than 250 contributors include two former governors, Paul Patton and John Y. Brown Jr., and former U.S. Sen. Wendell Ford.

Andy Beshear was the first Democrat to formally announce his candidacy for attorney general.

The current attorney general, Democrat Jack Conway, is half way through his second four-year term. Because of a two-term limit, Conway can't seek re-election. He's considering a run for governor in 2015.
