HOUSTON – Houston police are searching for the suspect who fatally shot a man in front of his children at a northeast Houston home early Thursday. That suspect then fled the scene with the victim’s fiancé, police said.

The shooting happened around 2 a.m. on Bobby Burns Street near Howton Street.

HPD said Ronalee Deandre McGuire got into an argument with his fiancé in a bedroom where his four children, ages 9 to 12, were sleeping. Police believe the fiancé’s 19-year-old son came into the room and fatally shot the 35-year-old father.

The shooter and his mom then left the scene, police said.

McGuire died inside the home, but his children were not injured.

Just hours before the shooting, McGuire and about 75 other people were at the home celebrating Christmas.

“He had four kids, he was really close to his kids. I don’t know why somebody would sit there and take his life,” said family friend Greg Brooks. “He’s my friend, it’s a tragedy that someone like him, a good person like him, is dead now.”

“I knew he was a good guy, good to his children and friendly. Very friendly,’ said Vickie, a neighbor.

Anyone with information was asked to call HPD Homicide at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS.
