OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) — A western Kentucky agency has collected nearly 6,000 Christmas cards for veterans in senior living facilities and nursing homes.
Debbie Reynolds, with the Owensboro-Daviess County Convention and Visitors Bureau, told the Messenger-Inquirer (http://bit.ly/1cIRITU) that it was a record year. Last year, the agency's Christmas card drive brought in about 4,500 cards.
Reynolds says area churches and schools helped out a lot.
The 5,843 cards collected this year will be passed out to veterans in 13 different area facilities including the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson.
