HAZARD, Ky. (AP) — An eastern Kentucky man has pleaded not guilty to killing a woman whose burned body was found along a roadside a week after she was reported missing.
WYMT-TV (http://bit.ly/1hKTZTg ) reports Gary W. Ward of Meally in Johnson County entered the plea Thursday in Knott County Circuit Court. He is accused of murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse in the September death of Christina Hale Barnett.
Defense attorneys also argued for a reduction in Ward's bond, which is set at $500,000, but the judge didn't immediately rule on the matter.
