HYDEN, Ky. (AP) — An eastern Kentucky jail inmate has been recaptured for the second time within a week.
Police say 26-year-old Ricky Hendrix walked away from the Leslie County Detention Center in May and was recaptured Saturday.
WYMT-TV (http://bit.ly/1e1Asv2) reports officials from the jail contacted police on Tuesday to say that Hendrix had made another escape. They say he was riding in a jail van when he kicked out a window, rolled onto a highway and ran away.
Leslie County court security officer Bryan Adams said Hendrix was coming from court, wearing leg irons and a belly chain.
Police scoured the area and found Hendrix hiding in a vehicle.
Hendrix was originally booked into the Leslie County Detention Center in April on charges including burglary and manufacturing methamphetamine.
